Oregon Coast 2010

Our annual trip to the coast was great. Sorry to those family members we didn't get to see. The time went by so fast! The kids had a blast at the beach (good cheap fun), that includes the big kids too.

Family update

Well, let's see. Since my last blog we moved twice. It was crazy but I am excited to be in a smaller place. It was fun to remodel and old house, we always have built new, so this was a different experience. Ryans business is picking up. He has had three new framing jobs in the last 2 weeks. We can only thank God for that. Lauren is crawling and all over the place. We have to be really careful, because anything she gets ahold of goes right into her mouth. Sometimes it is just plain gross. Luke gets bigger everyday and couldn't be any cuter. All he talks about right now is when he gets bigger he is going to go to school. AHHHHHH! Anyway, just wanted to give an update. Crawling video to come. Love you all.

Lauren's First Swimming Lesson

Holey Moley! It has been a long time since I updated this blog. It has been crazy, with all the holidays and moving 2 weeks before Christmas. AHHHHGG! Anyway I am not even going to try and catch up. I am just going to start from today.

He is starting to grow gills!!! Luke is really catching onto this swimming stuff. Good thing I got this video when I did because shortly after he had a major meltdown in the pool with his instructor and I had to pull him out of the pool before his lesson was over (ignore the other mothers in the background chatting it up). :)

Halloween

We had a great time on Halloween. Everyone came over after the BSU game and had dinner, then we took Payton, Luke and Eva out trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. It was crazy fun! The pictures are a little fuzzy but you get the idea. I was very ambitious this year and made Luke's costume. It was a lot of work but turned out cute.

Pumpkin Carving

Luke had a little too much fun carving the pumpkins. His own little one was so destroyed that it had to be thrown away but the fun in doing it was totally worth it.

Trip to Linder Farms

We went to Linder Farms for the pumpkin patch, but they had lots of other fun things to do also. Luke had a blast even though it was windy and cold. We got great pictures of everything except the pumpkin patch (go figure!).

Can't believe it has been over a month since I updated our blog. I have not been on my computer forever. I guess because I don't have a lot to report. Lauren is growing and growing. Her smiles get bigger everyday. Luke is still refusing to potty train. Just put him on the potty this morning and he didn't go. Then 5 minutes later he pees all over the floor. They say no child ever went to kindergarten in diapers, but I have my doubts about my son! Anyway hope all is well with everyone.

Oregon Coast 2009

We had a great time at the coast this year. Went to the aquarium, ate at Mo's, did some fishing and crabbing, golfed, and of course played at the beach. The beach house had a ping pong table which entertained the kids and it had a fire pit so we did some marshmallow roastin'.

We hit the family reunion and the boys had a blast. They played in the creek and caught a crawdad (yipee!). On the way home we stopped in Hermiston and stayed at a hotel. Luke and Payton had sooo much fun playing in the pool. It was also Lauren's first pool experience.

I can't believe he is 3!!! I will let the pictures tell how much fun we had that day.

We even had family here from Austria. They had fun. Klaus had never been bowling before.

We surprised Luke with his own train set at the end of the day. Ryan built the table and I helped paint it. Ryan, his dad and his brother assembled the whole thing. It turned out really great!

We had a blast on the 4th of July. Ryan drove his truck in the parade and Luke and Payton got to throw candy out of the back. Luke didn't care where he threw it, he just wanted to throw it (even when there were no people around). We had to save a few pieces to throw to Eva, because we ran out not even half way through the parade route. Next year we have to invest in LOTS more candy

Luke is such a trooper. He had his teeth cleaned for the first time today and he did wonderfully. It helped that the dentist has televisions in the ceiling to watch while being worked on. I am so proud of him.

She entered the world after putting up a good fight on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 1:01 in the morning. Now that she's here, all I can say is "I will never have to do that again!" I went into labor on my own and Ryan was not home (of course). He was playing golf that night. He made it home and got me to the hospital just as my water broke, in the parking lot.

Anyway, she is adorable and a wonderful baby. Enjoy the pictures!

5 days to go! I am just really bored and up too late so I thought I would blog about this stubborn little girl who is perfectly happy staying where she is. I can't wait to see the doc on Tuesday and see what we can do to get her out here in the real world. Hopefully I don't even make it until Tuesday. I am anxious about having another child, but very excited as well. It was so different when I had Luke. Doc says show up on Wednesday morning at 7:30 and we will have this baby. No waiting around! Now every time I have a contraction I am hoping pain comes with it (isn't that an awful thing to wish on ones self). Anyway, I will definitely keep updating and keep me in your prayers.

Easter

We spent Easter Sunday over at Ryan's parents house. Luke is the only little one, but they still had a egg hunt. Almost 50 eggs to be exact. We had taken his tractor with us and it was so cute to see him drive around and put the eggs in it.

He also had a lot of fun playing baseball with Daddy and Grandma. Ryan was teaching him that he had to shake his booty everytime before getting ready to hit the ball.

My First Ambulance Ride!

Although I am not proud of it, I feel like I should share. Friday as I was getting out of my car to go to work, I slipped and feel in the parking lot. I landed smack on my rear. Getting up I knew I hurt something, but I was hoping that I would be able to walk it off. I walked into work and tried to sit down (ya, that didn't work). I felt a little nauseous so I went into the bathroom. I tried to bend down and pain shot through my body. After that everything was a little blurry. My co-worker, Jami, ended up calling the paramedics and they took me to the hospital. Turns out I broke my tailbone, but the pain must have caused some weird blood pressure stuff because I was clammy and hot and totally out of it. Nothing was wrong with the baby, which I never felt like there was. I just got a major pain in my butt!!! Recovery has been on and off. I am trying to take as little pain meds. as possible. This was the first day I dared to take the stairs to get to my computer and made it without a lot of trouble. Anyway with all that said, baby and I are fine and healing well.

We had a very exciting day today. We found out that we are having a GIRL this time. Luke was only interested in the fish screen saver that was on the other computer in the ultrasound room, but it was still good to have him there. It will be interesting and different this time around though fun at the same time. There are such cute clothes out there for little girls. Everything else on the ultrasound was perfect. This is a textbook pregnancy so far.

Sorry the pics aren't very good, I was having trouble with my scanner. I am lucky to even get these.

Well, if you don't know already, we are pregnant again. I am about 4 months along and everything is going well. Our due date is May 21st so another May birthday in the family. We had to wait in line to re-register and change our address to our current one. He is laying on the floor of the lobby of the middle school where we voted. I think he takes after me about his joy for politics.

Luke's First Fish

This was over Labor day weekend when we all went camping. We took one day and went fishing. It was Luke's first fishing trip. It was freezing cold, but we still had a lot of fun. We (meaning I, Brenda) caught the ONLY two fish that day. Luke and Payton helped me out though.

We started Luke in his toddler bed around the time he turned two. The first night was a breeze. He fell asleep faster than he did in his crib. I thought it would be a fluke and we would have a fight on our hands the next night. Boy was I wrong! That kid sleeps like a baby, literally. We have not had one night were he has gotten out of bed after being put in it. He doesn't even get out of bed when he wakes up in the morning. He waits for me to get him out. Isn't this how God gets you to have another baby? He is just making it easy the first time around for me. I think I am in big trouble with the next one.

Western Idaho Fair

We went to the fair in August and had a lot of fun. Luke is still a little to short to ride all the kiddie rides, but he had a blast on the ones he could ride. Only problem was that I had to ride with him and I don't think the make those rides to fit moms. Ryan can't ride with him because he gets sick on any kind of ride, so it was all up to me. What we do for our kids, right?!

Camping-Labor Day Weekend!

We found this swimming pool, it must have blown out of someones back yard ! :) :( The kids loved it and it got them clean. Even baby Eva played in it a little bit.

We all went camping over labor day weekend up in Council. Kind of camping. We parked on a jobsite Ryan is working on, but there is nothing up there but one house. It was nice because it wasn't a crowded camp ground. The dirt was underestimated, thank goodness for showers in motorhomes.

Papa got a little crazy with the 4-wheeler. They found this huge pipe thing and the kids would get in it and then papa would roll the pipe around. Then he got this crazy idea to roll the pipe with the 4-wheeler. Payton would end up rolling completely out of the pipe and onto the ground. We would all cringe while watching this. Payton would stand right back up and say "Again, Papa, again".

Family Vacation

We took a family vacation (and when I say family, I mean my family, Tami's family and Grandma and Papa) to the Oregon Coast in July. We rented a beach house for about four days. We played on the beach, roasted hotdogs and made smores. We hit the aquarium on day and of course, had luch at the original Mo's.

After the beach house, we headed to Tillamook to stay with Papa Wally and G.G. First day there we drove down to Oceanside and had the most beautiful day on the beach that I can remember. There was no wind, yes I said NO WIND. It was sunny and the seals were playing in the water. I let Luke run around in nothing but a swim diaper.

We also made a trip out to the Faulhaber reunion. The kids had fun on the homemade slip-n-slide and playing in the creek. We adults had fun eating.

4th of July

We took the boys down to Melba to see the parade. Luke loved seeing the jets fly over to start it. They are so much fun to watch.

My husband thought he would let Luke light some fireworks this year. That was a little nerve wracking.

Gaddis-Swafford Reunion

So this weekend Luke and I will be flying to Oregon for a family reunion on my moms side of the family. It is a short flight so I am hoping all will go well. Luke is really into planes right now so I know he will love the airport. Mom and dad will be going with us so I will have help, Thank God! I will report back on how it went later on.

We got back yesterday about 8:30 p.m. He did great on the flight to Portland. He didn't quite know what to think of all the new people he met. Napping was interesting. It was usually a few minutes here and there while we were in the car. Now, let's talk about the flight back. First, mommy was cranky because stupid people shouldn't be allowed in airports. I also just wanted to get home. Then our plane was late. Luke was so tired on the flight home that all he wanted to do was move around. We has some turbulence so everyone was told to stay in there seat. I had to hold him down until he finally fell asleep. Of course that included a lot of crying and screaming. The man sitting in front of us was thoroughly enjoying it. It is just a good think we don't do this very often.

I couldn't wait to take Ryan on the surprise 30th birthday trip that I planned for him. I had been planning this since January and I thought June would never get here. We left on Friday, June 13th and flew into Louisville, KY. We then had to drive about a hour to Frenchlick, IN. We stayed in the Frenchlick Resort, which has been around since the late 1800s. It was hot and humid but we had a great weekend. Saturday was the day I took Ryan and surprised him by signing him up to do a World Class Driving event. He was able to drive 5 sports cars, that we would only be able to dream about. The least expensive one was $130,000.

The first car was a Corvette Callaway:

The next was a Audi R8

Then the Maserati, this one was brand new off the lot the night before we drove it (and my favorite)

Then the Ferrari 599, because of the cost of this car, I was not able to ride in it with Ryan. One of the staff had to be in it for liability reasons.

Then the Lamborghini Galardo (I have to admit that this one was the most fun to go fast in!)

The rest of the weekend was great also. We golfed and played in the casino a little. I think it was a perfect all around weekend.

My 30th Birthday!

Can I tell everyone what a fabulous husband I have?! My birthday was May 7 and I was having a little bit of a hard time with turning 30. So on my birthday we went to dinner and the regular stuff. Ryan gave me a card and I thought that was it. The saturday following he took me golfing, which was fun. While we were at the golf course we got a call from his mother, who was watching Luke for us, and she said we had forgotten to leave the car seat. After golfing we ran back to their house and SURPRISE, all my friends and family were there. I could not believe it. The first thing I thought was "I need a shower". That party made entering into the 30's better that I could ever imagined. I can't begin to tell you what that did for me. Following the party was a limosine ride to meet friends for drinks and then we stayed at the Anniversary Inn. Sunday went took in a movie and went to the Parade of Homes. I have never had a better birthday.

To all those who attended and to all those who helped with the party, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It makes me realize what a great family and group of friends that I have. One can only be blessed to have such a close group of people around me. I LOVE YOU ALL.

Like Father, Like Son!

It has started already. The other day Ryan had a 10 foot ladder in the living room to switch out some burnt out light bulbs and I only turned around for a second and this is what happened.

So everyone just say a little prayer for me because I think this is only the beginning!

My Baby is 18 months old already!

I can't believe Luke is already 18 months old. I haven't put a post up lately so I thought I better get to it. At his 18 month appointment he weighed 29.5 lbs. and was 33 3/4 inches tall. Still in the 90th percentile. I think he is going to be a big boy. He is starting to copy everything we say, so we have to be careful. He is already starting to put sentences together, oh my gosh! He is totally a little boy, my baby is gone. He is so much fun to be around, we get him giggling and it will entertain us all afternoon.

Yay! Finally! Luke had been waiting to rip open the presents under the tree (he got to one a little early and I had to tape it back up). We had a great time, mostly watching Luke. We also went to Grandma and Grandpa's house Christmas Eve and Luke had fun playing the pinball machine. Christmas morning we went to Grandma and Papa's and had more fun there.

Luke's First Snowman

We went out today after we finally got some snow and made Luke's first snowman. Well, Ryan and I made Luke's first snowman. He didn't really want anything to do with the snow. He got very upset when Ryan put his beanie on the snowman, he was much better when he finally got it off of the snowman. It was still very fun. It was also a beautiful day.

Yesterday I was making icing for the sugar cookies and thought I would give a beater to Luke and see what happened. He LOVED it. He had both beaters for about an hour when I finally took them away from him.

We went to see Santa (the "real" one was in Nampa, ID). Luke had just gotten woke from a nap in the car, so he wasn't real excited. We at least got him to stop crying for the picture, but no smile to be found. It was still fun to go with Tami, Payton and Carrie.

Luke's Swimming Lessons

Luke first started swimming lessons at about 10 months old. So we have been going for about six months. I finally got some video of him. It is good that I waited this long because he has just started to like his lessons. He actually has fun instead of crying through the whole thing.
